We had wanted to make something with hairpin legs for a long time, so when Jo asked if we could make a TV console with hairpin legs we were instantly excited!
Jo had a specific gap in her living room for a TV unit and she loved the look and design of the old 60s and 70s rectangular consoles with the simple clean lines. We added our own touch to the unit with all the wood coming from 2 scaffold boards. We planned the boards down to size, mitred the sides and glued and clamped them together. Jo wanted the unit to be a darker shade of brown to contrast some of her existing furniture and floor. The unit was stained twice, with a rough sanding between coats to bring out the grain and have some different shades in the colour. To finish we used a Danish oil to seal in the colour and give the unit a lovely smooth texture.
